UI TRANSMISSION LINE UPDATE FROM Fairfield’s First Selectwoman

UI TRANSMISSION LINE UPDATE
Dear Fairfielders,
I want to thank our residents who attended Wednesday night’s Town Hall meeting with UI.  While I had hoped we would have received more clarity on the proposal, I did feel it was important for residents and business owners to hear UI’s presentation, ask questions, and provide comment. Residents came together and were effective in sharing important details and genuine concerns about UI’s proposal. I was encouraged by our community’s engagement and advocacy. The four-hour Town Hall meeting concluded with my asking UI to withdraw its application and refile so that residents, businesses, and the Town could have more time to work with UI on alternatives to their current proposal. Yesterday I had a meeting with the State Delegation, and the intervening attorneys to discuss the next steps. We reaffirmed our commitment to work together and will formally be requesting UI withdraw this application and reapply with the State Siting Council. Together we will keep our community updated as we move forward on this important issue. As always if you have any questions, please reach out to me by replying to this email or by calling me at 203-203-256-3030. WATCH THE TOWN HALL MEETING HERE
Sincerely,

First Selectwoman Brenda L. Kupchick
