Announcing the Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting of Lantern Point Taverna

Fairfield, CT – The Town of Fairfield’s Office of Community & Economic Development is pleased to announce the official grand opening of Lantern Point Taverna, located in the
1612 Post Road in Fairfield. The Town of Fairfield’s First Selectwoman, Brenda L. Kupchick, and Director of Community and Economic Development, Mark Barnhart, joined owner, James “Jimmy” Karageorge, along with his family and friends, to celebrate
the grand opening of his restaurant in Fairfield with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 17th.

When the space became available at 1612 Post Road, Jimmy saw the opportunity to open a Greek restaurant that was surely missed by the Fairfield community after Europa Restaurant was sold. He wanted to bring back a place where people can come to enjoy his Greek specialties and feel that Greek philotimo again. “Philotimo encompasses the concepts of pride in self, pride in family, pride in community, and doing the right thing.” From Europa Restaurant and then opening Captain’s Pizza and Black Forest Restaurant
in Shelton, Jimmy can attribute his successful entrepreneur ethos and ethics to his late father, George Karageorge. Besides serving traditional Greek dishes and soups, Lantern Point Taverna is grilling up Greek style fresh fish and baby lamb chops “latholémeno” and introducing new items like Dakos, the Greek bruschetta, Portokalopita, an orange
infused sponge cake drizzled with honey syrup and many more new Greek specialties and a variety of Greek wines that you’ll have to come in and try! Lantern Point Taverna has also added a favorite throwback from Europa Restaurant as an homage to our Europa
customers, the Chicken Delight!

Lantern Point Taverna is open for take-out or dine in Tuesday-Saturday 4pm-10pm and accepts reservations for a table of 6 or more by calling 203-259-1960.
