Matthew J. Varholak Obituary

The following obituary is from Adzima Funeral Home:

Matthew J. Varholak age 62 of Fairfield Connecticut beloved son of Charlotte Feroleto Varholak and the late Lawrence N. Varholak Sr., passed away on August 23, 2023, at Apple Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Cromwell Connecticut after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

Matthew was born at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Bridgeport CT on October 9, 1960, and had been a lifelong area resident living in Fairfield and Old Wethersfield. Matthew was a 1978 graduate of Andrew Warde High School. Matthew was a very loving, caring, gregarious and spiritual person being a devout follower of the way of Jesus Christ. Matthew was an accomplished student and athlete having played baseball, football and soccer while also having been a Life Boy Scout. He also had a passionate love and an insatiable appetite for all genres of music. Matthew loved his family and friends dearly; he was an incredible son, brother, uncle and friend, always concerned about others’ wellbeing.

Matthew’s surviving family in addition to his Mother Charlotte Varholak of Fairfield, are his brother Lawrence N. Varholak Jr. and his wife Laurie of Southbury, his sister Beth Ellyn Oronzo and her husband John of North Haven, his sister Cheryl Prisco and her husband Richard of Boone North Carolina, his brother Jonathan Varholak and his wife Joanna of Hingham, Massachusetts, 11 cherished nieces and nephews, Nicholas (Jessica) Varholak, Eric (Jennifer) Varholak, Lauren (Stephen) Tocco, Natalie and Anjelia Oronzo, Michael (Helen) and Sophia Prisco and Alexa, Ava, Jake and Jenna Varholak, 6 cherished great nieces and nephews, Kinsley, Luka, Avery, Demi Varholak and Beyla Tocco.

The family has elected to hold a private service laying Matthew to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. The Adzima Funeral Home, Stratford was entrusted with the funeral services.
