Lantern Tour: Fairfield’s Old Burying Ground Additional Times Added

Due to popular demand, we’ve opened two new time slots for our Lantern Tours of Fairfield’s Old Burying Ground! Start your Halloween celebrations early by joining us on Sunday, October 29 or Monday, October 30 for a guided tour in the town’s oldest cemetery.

Discover the stories of Caleb Brewster, Samuel Smedley, and Goody Knapp, who was convicted of and executed for witchcraft in 1653. Uncover some of the burial practices in early New England while listening to long-buried legends that have haunted Fairfield for nearly 400 years.

Tours begin at 5:30 pm each night. Space is limited. Registration is required. $10 for Members; $15 for Non-Members. https://bit.ly/406hAWN

Tour Location: Meet at Fairfield Museum Main Entrance.

Program Details

  • Pre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.
  • Tours are approximately 45 minutes long and will depart on their ghostly journey promptly at 5:30 PM.
  • Tours will meet at the front entrance of the Fairfield Museum.
  • Feel free to bring your own flashlights.
  • This program is recommended for adults and kids ages 12 and up.
  • The Old Burying Ground can be difficult for people with limited mobility. Please contact the Fairfield Museum to discuss any accessibility concerns.
  • In case of inclement weather, the Fairfield Museum will make every effort to reschedule the tour. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates.
  • No refunds will be given unless the program is cancelled by the Fairfield Museum.
