Fairfield’s Tasty Extravaganza: Food Truck Festival with a Rockin’ Beat!

Fairfield’s annual food truck festival, aimed at supporting the library, comes with an exciting addition this year: live music.

The festival is scheduled for October 2nd, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jennings Beach. It is organized by the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library, the library’s nonprofit fundraising arm, which has partnered with the town for this event.

To attend the festival, guests make a $5 donation for entry and then purchase their favorite dishes from the food trucks at standard prices. Participating food trucks include Lobster Craft, DrewbaQ, Bubble & Brew Tea, Finger Linkin’ Chicken, and Rice & Beans. On the musical front, the lineup includes performances by School of Rock’s Local All-Star Band, Get Lit, and The Zambonis.

The  Friends of the Fairfield Public Library group, which has been active in Fairfield for decades, has traditionally organized events like author talks. However, in 2017, the group decided to expand into larger-scale events. Mike Foley and his wife, Jennifer Butler, joined the group and proposed the idea of the Fairfield Food Truck Festival.

Foley recalled the first year when they witnessed waves of attendees arriving at the event. He mentioned that they raised over $15,000 on that day alone, with about 5,000 people in attendance. Since then, the festival consistently draws large crowds.

Planning the festival involves a balancing act in determining the ideal number of food trucks, and this year, they are expecting around 17 trucks out of a potential 15 to 20.
